About Us

Michelle and Courtnie welcome you to Charnwood Community Care. We are a family-run care and support service supporting adults aged 18 and over in the comfort of their own homes in the Charnwood area and surrounding villages. We know that care isn’t ‘one-size-fits-all’ so we aim to provide high-quality, personalised, bespoke care and support to our service-users by having a team of caring, compassionate and highly skilled support workers.

Our aim is to ensure that each of our service-users receives the care and support that they need and be treated and respected as one of our own families. We believe in building positive relationships, clear communication and emotional support with not only our service-users but their loved ones too. With our core values of care, compassion & community at the heart of everything we do, our services are available to all who need them.

We believe that organising care for a loved one or yourself should be a stress-free process!

We understand the importance of supporting those who may suffer with mental health issues and how receiving the right support is so vital to many. This is something that is very close to our hearts. Support in this area can look very different from the support someone may require with physical difficulties, so we will take time to get to know you and understand the right level of support you require.

Changes can happen and inevitably will! Throughout your time with us, we regularly review care and support plans with our service-users and families to ensure that needs are always being met.

Meet Us

Michelle Johnston - Company Director - Registered Manager

“I have worked in the care industry for many years, supporting individuals and their families with a variety of different needs. I have worked as a carer myself, a care manager, support worker in children’s homes and reablement team leader for the local authority where I supported adults to return home safely from hospital with the correct care and support in place”

“I have seen the impact of poor care and support, and how it can negatively impact the lives of vulnerable people and their families and this is one of the many reasons I have decided to start this company. I am very passionate about what I do and the support I give and believe everyone deserves to thrive and not just survive in life”

Courtnie Wood - Company Director - Manager

'Having previous experience in the care industry both in domiciliary care and residential homes, I have experienced people's desire to be as independent as they can be and the importance of providing  the right care & support  in order to achieve this.

I have always known that I want a career in which I can help people.

Most recently, I have worked as a primary school teacher, educating and influencing young minds. I have worked with children and families that have different needs and supporting them in a variety of ways.

As our business grows, we plan to proved care & support for young adults. My role will predominantly be to support our young adults in their transition from children's care to adult care'

'Read Helen's Story'

'I first met Michelle in 2022 when she became one of my carers. At this time, I was extremely poorly and consuming large amounts of alcohol. Michelle was always my favourite carer. When I knew it was Michelle who was at the door, it was the highlight of my day, and I couldn't wait to greet her with a big hug. Michelle always went above and beyond being your everyday carer. At my worst times, she was not only my personal carer but also my nursing assistant and shoulder to lean on. As my condition started to improve, Michelle would take me to, and attend any appointments, make all medical phone calls, liaise with healthcare professionals and deal with personal finances and bills. She also helped with my son’s welfare, cooking meals for him and making sure he received the support that he needed. My youngest son was in temporary care at this time. One of the biggest fights I've ever undertaken was to get him back home and I couldn't have succeeded in this without the help and support I received from Michelle. By this time, she had left the care company but continued to be both my support network and friend. She even took me bedroom shopping, built my son's bed, bought items for his room in her spare time, all to make his return extra special and was even here to celebrate upon his day of return! Both our families are extremely close to this day and I'm forever grateful to Michelle for everything she has done for me and my boys. I would highly recommend Michelle, as her professionalism, kindness and personal touch are second to none. I am now 15 months sober and am living my best life. I feel Michelle was sent to me for a reason, she is my miracle worker.'
